Your Guide To Modhesh World 2014

What to know about the best place for family fun this summer

Your Guide To Modhesh World 2014

If you have kids and live in Dubai, chances are you’ve already heard of Modhesh World. This huge event (sometimes attracting up to half a million visitors in a season!) is a staple of indoor family fun in the scorching Dubai summers. During those long months spent trying to entertain the kids, you’ll want to be sure to pencil in a visit to Modhesh World at least once (or more!). If you think you’ve seen it all before, there are new activities and exhibits for summer 2014 that you won’t want to miss. Read on for our ultimate guide to everything you need to know about this year’s festival.

WHO

Who should go to Modhesh World this summer? The entire family! You can search for activities catered to kids from ages one through 12 on their website. There is so much to do, however, that older kids and parents will not find themselves bored either. Many activities are catered toward all ages, so families with children spanning a few years will not be disappointed.

WHAT

So, what is there to do at Modhesh World? In a word, lots! The Modhesh Fun Fair at the festival has enough to warrant its own whole festival. A dinosaur 9D movie, water rollers, a carousel, bumper cars, water boats, bungee jumping, lots of rides and much more are all found in just this one area. The activities here encompass all age groups, so it’s a great place for the whole family to visit together. The Modhesh Main Stage has five different performances playing weekly for all age groups, from a circus show to an art show. The Heritage Zone is all about the local culture, with workshops on local traditions and shopping for unique merchandise.

There are countless other activities for the whole family to do: target shooting, laser tag, mini golf, a water park, high rope adventures, pizza-making classes, WWE interactive experiences, and special areas dedicated to Hello Kitty, Transformers and Angry Birds. Good luck trying to see it all! A great perk of the festival’s website is that it allows you to search by age, date and activity to help narrow down what you and your family want to see and when. Doing a bit of research and prioritizing before you get to Modhesh World can help save you lots of time and will organize the many activities available to you.

The “what” can also refer to “what in the world is there to eat and drink?” Don’t worry. Pizza, a healthy café, barbeque and fine dining are all located in the Dubai World Trade Center. Many food carts can also be found in and around the exhibition halls. Note that food kiosks will be closed during Ramadan but some foods will still be available for delivery.

You can also sign up for a newsletter to receive updates and information as it becomes available.

WHERE

Modhesh World is located in halls three through eight of the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center located in the Dubai World Trade Center, smack dab in the heart of Dubai.

WHEN

Modhesh World is running from June 12th through September 8th of this year. The good news is you have lots of time to get there this summer, but don’t forget how fast the summers go by! Plan ahead to go to the festival as a family. There are also many opportunities throughout the week to catch the fun. Modhesh World is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. on weekends, and 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Fridays.

HOW

We know that getting there can be half the battle so we’re going to make it as easy as possible. Driving your own car is often the most convenient option. If that is your choice, there is ample parking at the Dubai World Trade Center at the parking structure and in lots. You’ll also find free and paid parking spaces and valet parking in the surrounding areas and on nearby streets. If you don’t want to deal with parking, there are definitely some viable alternatives. The Dubai Metro, Dubai Road and Transit Authority local buses and taxis will all get you to the Dubai World Trade Center relatively easily.

HOW MUCH

The cost may be the most pressing question for families on a budget (and what family isn’t on a budget?).  It costs AED 15 for children to get in and AED 10 for adults. Kids under three years old and children with special needs get in for free. Note that some activities may cost extra on top of the entrance fee (don’t worry – there are activities at no extra cost too!). This information is available on the festival website.
