Ajman

Ajman is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With only around 260 sq. km., Ajman is the smallest emirate in area. It is located next to the Persian Gulf, and is bordered by Sharjah to the north, south, and east. Ajman has a population of around 362,000, which is a huge growth from 1980 when Ajman only had about 36,000 inhabitants. Many people from neighboring emirates and countries have moved to Ajman as it experienced massive development.

To imitate the success of Dubai, Ajman became the second emirate to have freehold property. Ajman is currently the only emirate in the UAE that offers investors of foreign nationalities to have 100 percent freehold ownership on real estate. This has led to a huge number of investors from local and international markets to invest in real estate in the emirate. However, with the economic crisis of 2007, construction was halted and many investors lost their money.

Ajman has a mix system of public and private healthcare. Public healthcare is funded by the government, and is free for all Emirati nationals. Expatriates and visitors will have to pay for all medical treatment costs. Cost of medical services can be quite high in the UAE. It is strongly recommended that expatriates and travelers purchase private medical insurance before they get to Ajman.
